A few weeks ago, we announced our upcoming Sadie Hawkins with our friends over at YK La Familia, and today we’re back to unveil the lineup for the dance. In case you want the rundown once more on the event – read below.
Sadie Hawkins is a dance where traditionally where Ladies ask the Fellas out to be their date, while the origin story of the dance is still somewhat speculated, we wanted to revisit that feel-good innocence of the dancefloor during our high school and middle school days. Although Ladies would traditionally choose a Male suitor, we encourage you to ask whoever you want (Male, Female, whatever you might identify with) to the dance. As the flier (done by Veeejzilla) says, dress to impress – there’ll be a photobooth for you and your date before you enjoy a night of live performances, DJ sets, and libations!

About the artists:
A YK contributor and positive soul, Jalia dabbles in a number of different creative outlets but has been DJing for a few years now. While she’s not with a camera around her neck, catch her on the 1s and 2s liberating deep cuts from The Pharcyde, Noname Gypsy and everyone in between.
You can catch San Diego based artist Vii spinning regularly throughout the city, another talented individual in SD’s burgeoning creative community. She also takes her talents behind the lens, where you can get a glimpse at her adventures – most recently appearing in Travelers Club and Le Vanguard’s Warehouse Takeover.
While fresh out of high school, Bay Area songstress Eileezus has managed to draw a lot of attention to her music and creative ventures. Her soothing sound continues to expand, as she unveiled her project Good Feelings earlier this summer.
A member of OnTask Family, Jjaahz occupies the broad space somewhere between rap and singing, a melodic miscreant (s/o Jay Stone). Also a talented visual artist, Jjaahz is another multifaceted creative who you can find painting and illustrating and who’s regularly in art shows within the Bay Area.
Known to many as Nono, Namaste Shawty has been seen over the past few years tearing up the dancefloor at Wine & Bowties FEELS events, shows at Starline Social Club and throughout Oakland. She drops bangers & breaks deep cuts from some of your favorite (or soon to be favorite) rappers, so be prepared to get hyphy.
Siri is another one of Oakland’s youth to be on the lookout for, at only 19 she’s been catching the eyes of many with her debut release G.L.O.E., performing at warehouse parties put on by her collective Le Vanguard. Her sound is spacey and introspective, and the production she enlists completes her progressive style.
Red Corvette has been curating events herself in Oakland through her Champagne and Cupcakes party series for some time, as well as being a member of the MOREVIBES crew. Catch her serving feels behind the boards regularly, her song selection brings in nostalgic tunes alongside contemporary tunes full of feelgood energy.
Richmond songstress Rayana Jay is one of the Bay Area’s best kept secrets (not for long), her sultry vocals have been enlisted by the likes of P-Lo, Azure, Wallah Umoja and numerous others while only delivering one project thus far. Recently unveiling a new cut, “Sleepy Brown”, you can be sure that you’re in for a treat with her set.
Drea Faux Real
Drea is one of the ladies behind Hey Ma. Another DJ who’s well known in the Bay Area spinning everywhere from 1015 Folsom to Warehouse parties, she’s recently moved to LA and begun to do shows out there. The Sadie Hawkins marks one of her first sets in the Bay in some time, so expect her to bring out some special guests!
See you all there!
